PREV One of Morocco’s great strengths lies in its small, family-run artisanal designers and some of them have gathered in the industrial zone (Sidi Ghanem), 5 km from the Médina of Marrakech.
This urban enclave is home to design studios and innovative artisans that make and sell carpets, furniture, ceramics and textiles. Tangier-based fashion designer Salima Abdel Wahab, Lighting Designer Henry Cath, and French designer Laurence Landon are a few of the notable designers to seek out.
Sometimes compared to New York’s SOHO district in the 1970’s with large loft spaces and concrete buildings, Sidi Ghanem is where architects and interior design enthusiasts quench their thirst for interior design while on holiday.
