In 2024, we celebrate La Sultana’s 20th anniversary, proudly looking after our guests to deliver a true Moroccan adventure in a beacon of luxury in the heart of Marrakech and on the sparkling Atlantic coast of Oualidia.

Our iconic Moroccan brand first opened its doors to guests from all over the world in 2004 and we are delighted to be celebrating this momentous anniversary with employees, partners, and travellers alike this year.

We are proud of our 20 years and grateful for welcoming our Sultana Lovers visiting back with children after their first honeymoon, bringing the whole family after a romantic stay and remembering each stay vividly for the design, the delicious Moroccan cuisine and experiences bask in the warm, reassuring atmosphere of a private home.

KHALID DADY

Concierge - Custodian

One fine day in 2007, Khalid knocked on the door of La Sultana with a degree in English Literature in his pocket. From the position of Receptionist to that of Concierge - and member of the Golden Keys Association -, his professional career has been driven by curiosity and unfailing commitment to enrich welcoming gestures and the codes of understated luxury.  Creating itineraries, suggesting experiences to be lived, anticipating guests' requirements…, all challenges to be met on a day-to-day basis. Though his childhood steeped in the values of manual work then found an echo in his role as Concierge-Custodian. By organizing guided and personalized tours of patrimonial architecture and Moroccan craftsmanship in the intimate heart of La Sultana Marrakesh, he tells the tale of a creative oasis nestling in the Kasbah.

ABDELKIM AGUERGOUR

Maintenance Manager

21 years of service

He is the eye keeping watch over maintenance and security. Exercising vigilance on both maintenance and the technical aspects of the buildings' renovation, Abdelkim inspects the living areas and the secret nooks and crannies in La Sultana, day by day, and in the tiniest detail. With experience on work sites acquired over many years, he analyzes, repairs, embellishes, modernizes, while anticipating all kinds of problems. A subtle, on-going exercise in an authentic hotel which takes on the challenge of preserving the beauty of its heritage without renouncing the cutting-edge technology of its equipment. Abdelkim also assumes vital responsibility for the security of La Sultana Marrakesh, where a team takes turns, 24 hours a day, to monitor public areas and terraces, from a command post equipped with 60 cameras.

SAMIRA ECHAJIRI

Lingerie Manager

A real perfectionist, Samira points out immediately that her years at La Sultana have been far more than an apprenticeship: a place of education and her school. Here she fine-tuned her training as a seamstress and her skills in linen management, upholding rare standards. From details to its entirety, the textile world of La Sultana envelops each guest in freshness and comfort. Backstage in lingerie, under Samira's management, a hive of little hands keeps itself busy making drapens, cushions, tablecloths, restaurant linen… Born in the Kasbah, and while evoking this neighbourhood which has preserved its soul, she accomplishes the daily mission of reinventing conditions for unique decor at La Sultana Marrakesh. Which does not solely consist of controlling and looking after the linen: guests must feel that their rooms have been created just for them.

KHALID ELMOBARAKY

Porter - Baggage Handler

Your first contact with the world of La Sultana Marrakech, the first smile… Khalid welcomes guests from all over the world at the gateway to the Kasbah. In the colours of Marrakesh, wearing his elegant, traditional red cape and a fez in the Sultana's colours, the first welcome that uplifts travellers is also conveyed by the hotel porters. Proud of representing legendary Moroccan hospitality, happy to practice communication that comes from the heart, Khalid has overcome his reserve over the years as a young Berber, enriching himself by his apprenticeship in several languages to pass on his know-how to new generations. A smile, a service, a bespoke welcome, like a gift of life, to commence an unforgettable stay.

BOUCHRA DEHBI

In her intuitive knowledge of traditional Moroccan cuisine, one rediscovers the legacies of Dada. Cuisine invented and simmered by women for whom the value of transmission is an essential value. Like a real craftsman of taste, Bouchra applies her culinary expertise while ensuring the quality of products, from pantry to plate. Alongside the chef, her experience in procuring supplies for the restaurants of La Sultana Marrakesh is a guarantee of healthy nutrition.  From breakfast at La Table du Souk, from the Odette bar to La Table de la Sultana, Bouchra perpetuates a tradition of freshness and sharing. On the hotel's terraces, her cookery classes are awaited to make a succulent chicken Tagine with lemon or a Zaalouk salad with aubergines. Her precise, accurate knowledge of each ingredient contains all the promises of a refined gustatory experience.

NABIL EL BAHRI

Work as a Receptionist opens up all the fields and all the demands of hotelry. From night audit to Receptionist, then Head of Reception to Manager of La Sultana Oualidia, Nabil has identified and taken up all the challenges in his career. Since childhood and his memories of holidays near Oualidia, the lagoon has opened its arms to him. Its magnificent flora and fauna find an echo in the philosophy of protection of the environment pursued by La Sultana. Relaxation, fine dining and relaxation are now combined with a demand for deeper awareness of its natural surroundings. In all four seasons, La Sultana Oualidia unfurls natural hospitality, the abundance of its organic vegetable garden, and a gentle approach to learning in the field of ecology. With the ebb and flow of the tides, in this protected, changing lagoon, the Manager's motto is to set an example.

HANANE KASALI

Head Waitress

After following training at the Benslimane Professional Hotel and Tourism Centre, working as a waitress at La Sultana Oualidia, then as "demi-chef de rang", Hanane pursues her dream of sharing perfectly naturally. At tables laid in all refinement, she passes on to visiting guests her passion for the lagoon of Oualidia, for fresh, seasonal and sun-blessed produce, just picked from the organic vegetable garden. The result of sustainable fishing brimming with freshness, the bounty of the sea holds no secrets for her. The winner of an LQA Star Award (Leading Quality Assurance), her exemplary energy at the service of this land of fine taste translates into invigorating breakfasts, snacking proposals at the pool, bar and beach restaurant, but also at lunchtime, characterized by the freshness of the vegetable garden, and at an elegant dinner table presented beneath a starry dome.

ABDELSLAM ERROUIMI

On the lagoon of Oualidia, the world of Abdelslam revolves around botanical collections, a nursery for palm-trees, and the organic vegetable garden. He grew up in this natural setting which is reinvented as the seasons go by and evolves between his expert hands. At La Sultana Oualidia, his generosity is reflected in that of the gardens. With hotel clients curious about botany, he shares information about the world of plant-life and observation of the collections, but also seeds offered in little envelopes like precious gifts. This sharing is prolonged in dishes with ultra-fresh vegetables from the market garden - chards, fennel, carrots, mint, salads…, harvested and cooked each day with respect for traditions of the terroir. For Abdelslam, protection and enrichment of a local eco-system remain a priority.

NEJOUA MOUHYIDDINE

Spa Esthetician

At the Spa of La Sultana Oualidia, Nejoua makes dreams of voluptuousness come true for all travellers discovering Morocco. With the expertise of a true virtuoso, she offers a ritualized invitation to disconnect in her massages, her deep knowledge of treatments using traditional clay, and cinnamon body scrubs. By way of a welcome, mint tea foretells of moments of chilling out and relaxation, while she guides her guests towards the natural benefits of the sauna and hammam. Surrounded by the Spa's cabins, the hotel's heated indoor pool soars upwards like a stone cathedral. This where Nejoua's entire world lies: in summer and winter, between the gentleness of ancestral traditions and the beneficial effects of water, she proposes a moment of pure bliss.
